I had need today to download a version of MySQL 4.1 to test something. The MySQL Developer Zone archives no longer provides any software before 5.0.
While this may have long reached EOL and is no longer support, customers still do run this version of MySQL.
Anybody that can help out with binaries (on several OS’s), it would be appreciated.

Hi Ronald,
Check here (or other mirror services):

Also, note that MySQL 4.1 (and 4.0) commercial-licensed binaries are available to Oracle customers via My Oracle Support, and while no longer under maintenance, the MySQL Support Team at Oracle is happy to provide usage support for 4.1 customers (and help them understand the benefits of an plan a migration to more recent versions).

I’ve also got all older source releases back to 4.1.12 and can upload them if needed … (4.0.24-4.0.30, too … and even 3.32.57 and .58)

You can go directly to FTP mirrors like ftp://ftp.easynet.be/mysql/Downloads/MySQL-4.1/. They kept 4.1.21 and 4.1.22. I don’t know if it is intentional or just incomplete cleanup. You can secure a local copy of the complete folder for yourself as long as it is there.

Most Linux and BSD’s do keep the original sources for a long time in their archives.

I guess you forgot the hubbub that happened back then? Giuseppe announced it in Dec 2009, it ended Dec 31st 2009:
https://blogs.oracle.com/datacharmer/entry/active_support_for_mysql_5
FWIW, this was MySQL/Sun’s decision. Oracle didn’t acquire MySQL until Jan 21st, 2010.
Note that MySQL’s policy used to be EOL after 3 years, Oracle has said they will extend support for all versions and take away that restriction. And they haven’t decom’d 5.0 yet, which came out Dec 2005 (7 years ago).
